We acknowledge with deep respect that the Galiano Museum Society is located on the unceded and traditional territories of the Penelakut People. For generations beyond memory, the Penelakut have cared for the lands, waters, and life of what is now known as Galiano Island and the surrounding Gulf Islands. We honour their enduring stewardship and relationship to this place, and we are committed to walking forward in a spirit of respect, learning, and reconciliation.

Entrance to museum
This beautiful carving was created by artist Michael Crocker for the entrance of the Galiano Museum, symbolizing the community's connection to its history and cultural experience. Crocker's work enhances the museum's architecture with bold form and deep shadow, inviting visitors to reflect on the island's stories as they enter. The carved doors are a prominent feature of the museum building. This was generously donated to the Galiano Museum Society as part of its mission to preserve and share Galiano Island's heritage.
Born from the vision of Allister Ross, the Galiano Museum Society has been preserving the history of Galiano Island since 1997. Through artifacts, photographs, and community storytelling, the Museum honours the island's First Nations heritage, early settlers, and the generations who continue to shape life here today.
